Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School

Safeguarding

Our Lady Immaculate School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We believe in providing a safe, caring and supportive environment in which children can learn and thrive. Safeguarding is at the heart of our care for pupils and is an integral part of school life.

All staff (Teachers, Learning Support Assistants, Lunch supervisors,  Office Staff, Site Manager, Volunteers, Students and Governors) must ensure that they are aware of these procedures set out in our Child Protection Policy. Adults in our school know that keeping children safe is everybody’s responsibility and that all children, regardless of age, gender, culture, language, race, ability or religion have equal rights to protection and opportunities.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies, when there are concerns about a child’s welfare.  We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

You can view our policy here.

Do You have concerns about a child?

If you are concerned about a child’s welfare, please record your concern, and any observations or conversations heard, and report to the DSL as soon as possible the same day. Alternatively, you can call Single Point of Access  (SPA) to request support or to report a concern about a child or young person. To make a referral click here or call for advice on 0208547 5008.  If you think a child or young person is in immediate danger call 999. Referrals are not limited to safeguarding: the Single Point of Access acts as a signposting service to other services, including mental health.
