Curriculum Vision

We provide an ambitious and challenging curriculum for all children at OLI. Every child experiences all of the subjects on the National Curriculum and these are taught creatively with a focus on knowledge and skills. We believe that, through this focus, the children can forge a strong understanding across all areas of the curriculum. This understanding allows all children to reach their potential at OLI and beyond as global citizens.

Through a progressive and engaging curriculum, we provide our children with opportunities to...

  • Thrive academically
  • Develop critical thinking skills
  • Become compassionate and responsible individuals

Our goal is to prepare each child to confidently embrace their future as active, considerate, and loving members of society.

The tools that shape our curriculum include the documentation below: we use these to design and communicate our educational approach.

 Subject on a Page

A concise overview of each subject, providing a clear summary of its intent, the way we implement this at OLI and the desired impact.

 Key Learning Indicators

A document used by teachers that outlines the specific skills, knowledge, and vocabulary that children are expected to demonstrate in each year group.

 Curriculum Maps

An outline that is sent to families at the start of each half-term, detailing the key topics, skills and concepts that will be covered in their child's year group.

Promoting Fundamental British Values

In accordance with The Department for Education, we aim to actively promote British values in school to ensure our pupils leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.

The Key Values are:

  • democracy
  • rule of law
  • individual liberty
  • mutual respect
  • tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

You can view our British Values Statement here to see how these values are embedded in life at OLI.
