Sports Captains

- More than just captains; they're team players with OLI spirit -

Our Year 6 Sports Captains play an important role in driving sport at OLI. They are role models for our school in the sporting values which all of our pupils aspire to show when participating, centred on respect, teamwork and perseverance.

They support their peers in a variety of ways, including supporting lunchtime activities on our pitch, organising intra-house events as well as supporting staff members when training for inter-school sports events.

Another key job of our Sports Captains is how they foster the celebratory culture of PE and Sports at OLI - whether this is through handing out certificates, leading assemblies and being involved in writing reports for our school newsletter.

Sports Day

Our Sports Captains certainly embrace their role in the preparation and running of our popular end-of-year Sports Day at the Kingsmeadow Athletics Stadium. The Captains organise and judge a front cover competition for our Sports Day programme, in addition to demonstrating all of the events to the children in the weeks before the big day. At the venue, the Captains arrive early and help with setting up the resources and supporting in many crucial aspects.

 Platinum School Games Mark

Recently, our Sports Captains created a video sports provision we have on offer and, as a result, we received a Platinum School Games mark which is a fantastic achievement for our school.
